Narrow your search:Don’t blink while driving thru this charming little town. Stop by the Lostine tavern for one of the best cheeseburgers in the county and meet some of the locals. You’ll see why they are known for their friendliness and ability to swap a few good stories. Enjoy a local brew there from Enterprise’s Terminal Gravity Brewery.
You will see many old buildings dating back to the 1800’s. Including the Tavern, the old Lostine schoolhouse and the Presbyterian Church. Visit the M Crow General Store for a soda and its like walking back in time. You can find almost anything to fill your needs.
More modern taste’s? If you are into bikes; old school custom built choppers that is- Walk down the hill behind M. Crow’s to check out Chopper Customs. If you like espresso’s, stop by the Blue Banana Espresso House. You can’t miss this one. There is an airplane crashed into the roof and a Volkswagen Bug in the wall. If you miss those, look for the big blue banana at the front door.
You can drive about 16 miles up the Lostine canyon to access many trailheads into the rugged Eagle Cap Mountains. If you like fishing and hunting this is an excellent location. There are many high mountain lakes in which to cast your line. As you reach the six mile point, look for bighorn sheep, as well as deer and elk.
In July every year, the streets of Lostine are filled with vendor’s of every kind who come here from as far away as Florida to participate in the Lostine Flea Market You can find tools, horse tack, jewelry, antiques and other treasures, as well as great food and drink.
Lostine was named after Lostine, Kansas. Old Chief Joseph’s main summer camp was here, and he died in this vicinity. During the Bannock war scare in 1878, a stockade was built by the settlers about three miles below Lostine.
