Imnaha is a popular destination for hunters and fishermen. The land is spectacular Canyon Country with the wild and scenic Imnaha River winding its way through North to the mighty Snake River.
The canyon walls are steep and the trails narrow. The cattle on the Imnaha ranches are tough and the cowhands, tougher.
Most large ranches have winter headquarters in the bottom lands along the river, and trail their cattle to lush grasslands “out on top” for the summer.
The county is primitive and steep canyon walls offer a perfect home for agile Bighorn Sheep. You will also find deer, elk, bear, cougar, bobcat, coyote and a variety of game birds, including quail, chuckar, wild turkey, grouse, Huns and blues.
Fishermen will enjoy casting for Dolly Varden, Rainbow Trout and also, Steelhead, but make sure they are in season!
If you are an avid gardener, Imnaha is our famous “Banana Belt”. Small farms grow everything from potatoes, grapes, corn and the famous “Imnaha Tomato”, to squash and melons. Orchards offer a variety of fruit including apricots, apples, peaches and pears, which are brought to Joseph and Enterprise Farmers Markets.
