Wallowa Lake Oregon Land Listings

Wallowa Lake was naturally formed by a glacier about nine million years ago and is approximately four miles long, one mile wide and 299 feet deep at its deepest point.
It was originally called Spalding Lake in 1839, Arabella in 1867 and later, Silver Lake and Joseph Lake, until early settlers went back to the Indian name of Wallowa Lake.

The land at the foot of the lake was a favorite Nez Perce camping and fishing spot and Old Chief Joseph’s final resting place is in the small cemetery found there.

You can find lodging in one of many cabins among the trees and on the river or stay at the historic Wallowa Lake lodge.
If you own an RV or just want to camp out, you can find several campgrounds at Wallowa Lake. The State Park has 121 full hookup and 89 tent sites or ask about staying in one of their yurts.
